Technical module

Carbine Fundamentals: technical alignment before the PSD phase

Carbine Fundamentals is the exact name of the first course in the Costa Rica 2026 edition. It runs on day 1 and prepares the group for the five days of Personal Security Detail.

The module's role within the programme

Why it comes first

Its purpose is to align the group's technical level before the protection phase, so later exercises are worked with shared safety and handling criteria.

It requires prior training and/or experience in the subject; it is not an entry-level module.

Content of the block

Safety, handling, positions, accuracy and applied work with the AR platform, along with equipment preparation and basic working criteria.

The detailed breakdown of the day is provided to admitted participants before the programme starts.

Relationship with the PSD course

The module is not a standalone shooting course: it exists to support performance in the PSD phase, where firearms use is integrated into protection procedures.

The Carbine Fundamentals certification is one of the edition's two certifications.

Safety discipline

Strict safety compliance is part of the assessment throughout the programme.
