European Security Academy is a leading European tactical training academy, internationally recognized for specialized training in security, protection, firearms, mobility and operational skills.

This edition is delivered in Costa Rica through ESA Spain instruction, with professional local coordination. Survival Skills and TACT act as local organizers and coordinators.

02Programme structure

Six training days for personal protection and PSD operations

The programme combines an initial Long Gun Fundamentals, AR Platform block with five days of Personal Security Detail, PSD. Training integrates principal protection, teamwork, risk assessment, vehicle procedures, operational communication, incident response, range work and practical assessment.

Day 1 — Long Gun Fundamentals, AR Platform

Technical alignment before the PSD phase: safety, handling, fundamentals, equipment preparation and basic working criteria with the AR platform.

Days 2 to 6 — Personal Security Detail, PSD

Main programme phase: team roles, formations, principal protection, situational awareness, searching people, places and vehicles, embus/debus, security driving, communication, protocol, emergency skills, range work and practical assessment.

05Arrival and local logistics

Airport arrival and departure coordination is provided within official programme windows. Arrivals or departures outside official windows may require separate coordination or additional cost.

Hotel Bougainvillea

The programme package includes 7 hotel nights, with check-in on December 13, 2026 and check-out on December 20, 2026, under the rooming and accommodation conditions established by the organizers. Personal expenses, incidentals, room upgrades, additional guests and damages are not included unless expressly confirmed.

Breakfast included, extensive gardens and an on-site restaurant, in a calm environment consistent with training logistics.

David Viver

David Viver, instructor de ESA

Police Officer | Tactical & Firearms Instructor | European Security Academy Instructor

David Viver is a police professional and tactical instructor with more than two decades of experience in operational, military and specialized training environments. His background combines service in military and police intervention units, more than 15 years in operational response, and extensive instructional experience in firearms, police techniques, CQB, VCQB, close protection, PSD and tactical casualty care.

As a European Security Academy instructor since 2021, his teaching approach is built around transferring real-world operational judgment into training: safety, discipline, decision-making under pressure, teamwork and the correct application of procedures.

09Admission and standards

A demanding programme with reviewed admission

  • This is not an introductory course.
  • Previous training and/or experience is required.
  • Admission is subject to profile review.
  • Assessment is continuous throughout the programme.
  • Not every participant who attends will graduate as PSD.
  • Maximum 15 participants.

Certification is subject to performance

PSD graduation is not automatic by paying for or attending the programme. Throughout training, the instructor will continuously assess safety, discipline, operational judgment, firearms handling, teamwork and the ability to apply procedures under pressure.

Serious safety violations, irresponsible weapons handling or failure to follow instructions may result in immediate removal from the programme, without refund and without the right to PSD graduation.
